[*glances guiltily on new jacket..*]
Boastful. [I hope not..I've been told I'm modest, sometimes to a fault]
Likes luxuries and gambling. [I enjoy the luxuries, not so much the gamble, unless you mean taking chances with social conventions, i.e. "going for it"]
Social and outgoing. [I likes me my friends and fun. but the whole staying at home and relaxing is appealing too]
Doesn't like responsibilities. It's not a club night, it's a fancy, shmancy gala teaming with visual, musical, and graphic design art.

It would mean a great deal to me and my fellow students if you could join me on this night of live music, food, drink, silent auction, and door prizes!

For info on the live acts go to our website: http://ultraviolet.apassionatecuriosity.com

To see what goodies we've accumulated so far, check out the Flickr page:
http://flickr.com/photos/ysdn_ultraviolet/

We've got a wide range of items you can bid on and/or win! From signed ballet shoes from the National Ballet of Canada, to authentic lead letterpress type, to tickets to Dirty Dancing & We Will Rock you, to Starbucks coffee, to a full blown Spa day at Tranquillity Beauty Spa, to a unicycle! [yes, a UNICYCLE!]

There will be hors d'oeuvres, magicians, local music talent, and of course, as already stated, prizes to be won!

So please, support me and my designer buddies and come on out to the night. Just leave a comment or contact me at jacquelyn.fong@gmail.com for tickets. $22 each.

We've got upwards of $20,000 to raise which is no small task. We're gonna make it happen, and we're not gonna let the strike get us down.
To all those who are going through the unpleasant, the unimaginable, the hard, the stressful, the exhausting, the spiderweb-ing-pain-in-chest-ing, the confusing, the tears-inducing.. take a moment for yourself and for you only. Even if it is to listen to your favourite song. Even if it is just to eat a cookie before dinner. Even if it is to stop your eyes from bleeding after staring at the same typeface you should be damn proud of having created, you creative little designer, you. Take that moment and let yourself breathe because on some level you have earned it. Let yourself know that it will get better because it will, despite the severely strong feeling that it won't. You've been brought to it, you'll be brought through it.

Just dance. :)

"Canned Heat" - Jamiroquai

You know this boogie is for real.

I used to buy my faith in worship,
But then my chance to Heaven slipped.
I used to worry about the future
But then I throw my caution to the wind.
I had no reason to be care free
No no no, until I took a trip to the other side of town
Yeah yeah yeah, you know I heard that boogie rhythm
Hey- I had no choice but to get down down down down.

[CHORUS]

Dance, nothing left for me to do but dance,
Off these bad times I'm going through just dance
Got canned heat in my heals tonight baby

I feel the thunder see the lightning
I know this anger's heaven sent.
So I've got to hang out all my hang-ups
Because of the boogie I feel so hell bent, hey hey
It's just an instant gut reaction, that I got
I know I never ever felt like this before,
I don't know what to do
But then thats nothing new,
Stuck between hell and high water
I need a cure to make it through.

Hey- dancing nothing left for me to do but dance
Off these bad times I'm going through just dance,
Hey got canned heat in my heals tonight baby
You know know know I'm gonna dance yeah
Off all the nasty things that people say.

Gonna dance, gonna dance my blues away tonight
Dance, come on got canned heat in my heals tonight
Canned heat in my heals tonight.

I'm probably going to try Value Village eventually, but still. help please?

    <lj:music>pretty girl - sugarcult</lj:music>

that's right, children. my summer isn't over yet!
tonight, was technically the last day of summer and it sorta feels like it. i went to the ex today, unfortunately didn't see the kirk, but that's alright. today was pretty cool, despite late waking up-age. basically got to the ex around 5:30, had insane time trying to find people. sigh, thomas. going in and out and then in again and finally spotting the trio. got to enjoy 3.5 hours of ex-ness. huzzah for alex's caffeine addiction resulting in free passes (rrrroll up the rim!)

This summer's been amazing. the first summer i've enjoyed thoroughly and that is in no small part due to my fantabulous friends. The summer officially started for me in April, then it paused while i was Psych-ing, then it started right back up again after that.

i enjoyed my one month, and i don't regret it one bit. i wish it didn't end, but it did. we talk, we laugh, it's brief but whatever. it's something.

uber party-ing and hanging with the alex and the trish and company. made some great friends thanks to them. oh sean, you know you're beautiful in that sports bra (support!) and grass skirt. happy one-month-before-your-actual-birthday!

and risa, you're great company, and you bring along great company. anthony, you know you love your corn. you're an awesome guy to hang around. so wicked that i start coughing from laughter and rootbeer goes up my nose! it's like there's a party in my lungs and everyone's invited!!

lurvely concert, merci mlle. shirley. looking forward to the peppers with great anticipation and excitement =) aaaand:
indian buffet is hot and spicy and cough-inducing but sooooo gooooooood!!

hanging out with my bestest is always fun. especially when we can just sit and talk for hours in the backyard, the bench swinging, the canopy flopping, the sun beaming. perfecto. things are bad, they'll get worse, but they'll eventually go away and when they do we'll have moved on. =)

hooray for awesome cousin picking me up from work and going with to casey's for a fun dinner during which she insists she shall kill him for being such a teen. she'll do it despite the blackbelt-ness. i love her. and then followed the prescription of music, leading me to the love of sugarcult and ''pretty girl.''

and so, my dears, my summer closes tonight and encores tomorrow with my dinner with elementary friends at mongolian bbq. never been. intend on getting stuffed. expecting a shot to my wallet. still intend on getting stuffed.

thank you all, and good night. =)

i have decided that I love Finn from Gilmore Girls.

(a very drunk) Finn: (Walks out of pub) Good morning New Haven! My, my, you look fresh and appealing toniiight!

Some random guy: Shut up!

Finn: :o God has spoken to me!...Rather rudely.

Oh Finn, you're awesome. I think it's the Brit accent and the funny. Sorta like Callum Blue and Spike in seasons 2-6.

In other news, i cut my hand again, but this time, on a cardboard box for a printer. I brushed by it, but since my hands tend to change direction (forwards, backwards) while I walk, I cut my finger twice against the cardboard and cut lovely paper cuts. Seriously, Henry's inanimate objects suck!

No other cashier today, so i was alone. Which is usually fine, except all hell broke loose. So much shit got shipped today, and there were repairs, phone calls, photofinishing receiving and sending, regular purchasing of things, and passport photos to be done today. ON TOP of stock counts, irrate customers, and my fucking cold. yes, i have a cold...AGAIN. I was coughing, my voice left me at least 3 times today, which isn't cool when you're trying to call people, or have to speak to people or have to page stupid sales people. it was only at 6pm that i could actually sit down and say: i have nothing to do right now. rawr!

oh, and i was late by 5 minutes today because the stupid camp councellors forgot to tell my parents that there was no camp today, and therefore when i took my mom up on her offer to drive me to work today, i was delayed...by a lot.

siiigh....i want sleep, but it won't come. and i'm achey and headachey.

...and my eyes are painful and itchy!! what the bloody hell?!
i swear, i must've done something really bad in my past life around this time...or maybe it's punishment for being at nathan philips square at 11:00pm on monday. whatever.

it was fun, i regret nothing! huzzah!

and friday i'm back at work. boo!

...

i need a hug.

p.s. my new assistant manager is the best. not only did she get me fisherman's friend, but she dealt with a stupid man about a stupid camera for me...and when i mouthed "do you want the repair order?" she pointed a middle finger right at the receiver of the phone while the dude was yelling at her, and she did a sort of...*pow!*-like motion with her finger-gun.

Below are some memories...but after reading them, I ask you all, what songs remind you of what? Length of the list does not matter, share as many as you want =)

Tupac's "Thugz Mansion" reminds me of sad grade 11 moments.
Outkast's "Roses" reminds me of random grade 11 moments.
Outkast's "Hey ya" reminds me of grade 11 christmas concert.
Muse's "Time is Running Out", Switchfoot's "Meant to Live", and Three Days Grace's "I Hate Everything About You" remind of my allnighters for Galang's gr. 11 media arts flash lessons.
Black Eyed Peas' "Hey Mama" reminds me of Ly and Aiz in front of the Math lockers at lunch.
Maroon 5's "Sunda Morning" non-popularized version reminds of Donald.
Aerosmith's "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" reminds me of Europe (Matt Volpe and Tim O.)
Blindside's "Silence" reminds me of Jeff.
BtVS's "Overture" for the musical reminds me of grade 9...watching Buffy at midnight.
RHCP's "Can't Stop" reminds me of Ward and Joe Devitt-Tremblay singing the lyrics with me in TA.
The Beatles' "Rocky Raccoon", "Two of Us", "Blackbird", and "Across the Universe" reminds me of my mom and I driving around after our music lessons (me piano, her guitar)
Verve's "Bitersweet Fantasy" reminds me of grade 8 and Joe D.T.
Hanson's "Mmmbop" reminds me of sunny days in grade 6.
Dashboard's "Vindicated" reminds me of sitting in band across from Kristle.
Linkin Park's "Faint", Britney Spears' "Me Against the Music", and Justin Timberlake's "Like I Love You" remind of the fabulous Carson =)
Britney Spears' "Toxic" and the Charlie Brown/Snoopy Song remind of Shirley in vocal.
Fallout Boy's "XO" reminds me of insane fun in Alex's van with trish, Jhanger, and Mike.
Ghost of the Robot's "Goodnight Sweet Girl" reminds me of Spike, and Mike Hadad trying to learn it.
Blink 182's "Going Away to College" and New Found Glory's cover of "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" reminds me of Julien & co. playing on Valentine's.
Dashboard Confessional's "Hands Down" reminds me of Hanson and the four different versions of the song he had on his CD's...which then reminds me of when he lost his CD's.
Tenacious D's "Fuck Her Gently" reminds me of Tim O. in practice room 2 singing the song to me and Bryan..with such conviction o_O...and it also reminds me of when he drove the two of us to go drink Bubble Tea before the Farewell concert, and when he was rummaging around in his van looking for the "millions in change" that must be held somewhere in said vehicle.
All-American Rejects' "Move Along", "Swing Swing" and "Top of the World" remind me of Cheryl =)
Harry and the Potters' "Fluffy" reminds me of Shirley and Sarah.
Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" reminds me of my mom, and last year at Claud and Kathy's party, just singing random songs while Jon and Mike played.

God...I'm sure there are many more.
It started last night, because, technically, it was "today". 'Round midnight or so, Trish invites me to go with her, the Alex, and the Mike for breakfast at a family-owned restaurant called Suburban.

This morning, I got up early to do some vacuuming and dusting as promised, but now I had to do it earlier because of new breakfast plan.
Mom didn't seem to mind driving me to Trish's where Alex would pick us up.
Anxiety rose because Matt was late for camp and ergo I was more than late for Trish.
Upon arriving at Trish's mom and me were arg-ish.
I get out, the Alex and the Trish are already coming out, no angerrr, just smiles and hungry-ness.
We're on our way, pumping up the music in Alex's white van.
We were supposed to pick up the Mike from a gas station, but he hadn't reached Huntingwood yet, so we went north, saw him and some dude travelling south, we u-turned.
Me: Are we doing a "whip open the side door and they barrel into the van" kinda thing?
Alex: hahaha! yeah...like a white-van kidnapping.
Me: awesome...*unbuckles and kneels next to door getting ready*
We drove into the bus stop, Alex honking all the way...they only noticed us at the last second.
Me: get your butts in here!
And ta-dah! we had two guys diving into the van while Alex keeps saying "get into a seat!" because there was a police car behind us.
And ta-dah! again because the guy with Mike was J-J-Jahnger!
So the ride to the restaurant after that was pretty fun, lots of music-ing, talking, Mike trying to find this song called "Rolling With [Bob] Saget".
Much panic at the disco, fallout boy, random rap and r&b..
At the restaurant itself, it doesn't look like much but it's really cozy inside...kinda what you picture a quaint little diner to be like.
The owner's cool, she's sarcastic but in an affectionate way.
We ordered, everyone 'cept Jahnger got the special...and you have three meat options, I chose sausages because I didn't feel like bacon or ham.
Trish: sausage..!! :O! she doesn't know...
But the owner/waitress was right there, so she didn't seem to finish.
Me: what?
Trish: nvmd!
Me: right...
And so, I got a small orange juice...which at first looks like a rip off, but I don't drink much so, w/e.
Jahnger got these delicious-looking slices of French Toast.
Mike made some dumbass joke about English toast....oy..
And we tried to wait til everyone got their food before we started, but I had to steal a potato from Alex, haha. But i failed several times because the potato kept breaking apart!!
Trish was so entertained..."she keeps on dividing it!!"
Alex: yes! that's it, I'm going to steal a potato from you when it comes.
Me: you mean a *part* of one.
And lo and behold, when the owner brought mine, she says: "He can have that puny one right there" *points at a depressing looking piece of dark potato*
Me: damn straight he is.
So after much photo-taking and stealing of food...or giving of since Trish and I savoured the food, not scarfing it down, but consquently got full before finishing...
We then paid, etc.
Trish thinks we pretty close, we talk like we're talking to friends.
Got into car, Mike took Jahnger's previous spot on the floor of the van where there were comfy cushions provided.
Read a text msg from mom where apologized for yelling, i called her quickly and apologized for the last-minute-ness and my own nasty behaviour.
We finally got to listen to this Saget song...oh lord. Bob Saget & co. rapping.
Stopped by Alex's house to get his work shoes...All the while this song..(Riding Dirty?) was playing...and LOUD. it was just funny because Alex is the one driving.
So many good songs like XO by Fallout Boy, completely made me at ease with the ride, perfect song.
Trish actually put on "Mmmbop" by hanson...and it was so hilarious because we were going down this long road, with nothing but sunshine and blue skies. It was so infectiously happy. Perfect song #2.
Dropped the Jahnger off.
We discovered a "For Sale" sign on his lawn.
Us: you're moving?!
Jahnger: ...I am?!
And he might be..he just didn't know when.
Then we proceeded to go onwards to my home.
Much more music-ing and fun.

so after getting home, did more house-cleaning. After done, I just got some orange juice and listened to Stadium Arcadium in the living room, with the loud cd-player. Then i switched over to Clumsy (OLP) Just lazing about, lay down and fell asleep when Clumsy came on.
Then had to go pick up the brother and go to work.

Interestingly, my happy mood did not die as soon as I got into Henry's.
I got in, things were cool.
Vishal's officially my new best friend at work, lol.
He's such a butthead but a cool one.
Even when he joked with me about "understanding why" i'm single again, i just laughed and slapped him on the arm.
He's one of those friends that you can physically abuse and be abused by but be cool about it.

Then after being picked up by fah-tha, went to Blockbuster to return discs. I picked up "Intermission" (irish movie with cillian) and the dude at the cash was cute. Very friendly and we talked a little bit then I left.

And now i'm home, ready to watch Intermission...practically bouncing from the euphoria that was today.

I so needed this day.
